cone 12-13 anagama woodfired stoneware with natural ash glaze.
This piece was actually fired twice, first in a smaller fastfire woodkiln. I sprinkled woodash on the shoulder of the piece then fired it. the ash fluxed and started to drip however the kiln design and the speed of the firing did not allow any extra ash accumulation, and the "soaking" and the contiuous fluxing of ash never took place. A few months later i got invited to a woodfiring by a fellow potter Austin Linseyin oviedo, florida. i had this piece and a few others to put in his anagama/groundhog kiln. We fired it for 3 days and the end result is this.
